Pro series – 25th May 2023 Spiceworks Originals.So, does Miracast suck ass like this usually? Or, is this a case of AirServer Universal and/or Windows 8.1 not supporting Miracast well? The other Windows 8.1 seemed to keep up but had a ton of graphical issues, freezing, etc. Before long, it was 30 seconds out of sync. The longer we used it, the more it would get out of sync. On one of the Windows 8.1 machines, it would show almost everything without artifacting, but it would get out of sync. When it finally did, there were lots of problems. Like I said, it would barely even connect. The quality using the Windows 8.1 devices was horrendous. Sometimes, the user would switch screens on his phone, and it wouldn't reflect on the mirrored device for 5 seconds or so. With the Android devices, the quality was acceptable at first, but after a minute or so, graphical artifacts started to build. It took many, many tries to get the Windows 8.1 devices to work. ![]() We got the Android devices to connect pretty quickly. Windows 8.1 machine as sender without compatible Wi-Fi adapter Windows 8.1 machine as sender with compatible Wi-Fi adapter Windows 8.1 machine with compatible Wi-Fi adapter running AirServer Universal this served as the host that mirrored other devices But they are using AirPlay, not Miracast. So, I purchased an AirServer Universal license, and I bought a USB 3.0 Wi-Fi adapter for a Windows 8.1 machine that the AirServer folks recommended.įirst, let me say that AirServer works just about flawlessly with iOS devices. ![]()
